✂️ Suture & Staple Removal at Home in Pertuis

Registered nurse visiting your home in Pertuis to remove surgical staples or sutures after an operation or A&E visit. Carried out using strict aseptic technique, on medical prescription. English spoken.

Step by step

How does it work?

  1. Get a prescription & collect supplies from the pharmacy

Your surgeon or GP issues a prescription specifying the removal procedure. Take it to your local pharmacy to collect the sterile removal kit before my visit.

  2. Book an appointment

Contact me by phone or WhatsApp to arrange a home visit. Removal is usually scheduled between day 10 and day 15 post-surgery, depending on your doctor's instructions.

  3. Removal under aseptic conditions

I assess the wound before starting. Each staple or suture is removed individually using single-use sterile equipment to minimise any infection risk.

  4. Post-removal advice & follow-up

I provide aftercare guidance and will contact your doctor if healing is insufficient or if there are any signs of infection.

Indications

When is a home visit appropriate?

Home suture and staple removal is suitable after any surgical procedure — orthopaedic, abdominal, gynaecological or cardiac — avoiding an additional trip to the clinic or hospital while you are still recovering.

It is also indicated after A&E sutures (deep cuts, bites, traumatic wounds) which typically need removal between day 5 and day 14 depending on their location.

For elderly or mobility-impaired patients, a home visit eliminates the risk of a difficult journey and reduces the chances of complications related to transport.

FAQ

Questions about suture removal at home

Do I need a prescription for suture removal?
Yes, a prescription from your surgeon or GP is required for the procedure to be covered by French Social Security. It should specify the type of removal (staples or sutures) and the planned date.
Where do I get the removal kit?
The sterile removal kit (staple remover or suture scissors, gauze, antiseptic) should be collected from your local pharmacy using your prescription before my visit.
Is the procedure painful?
Suture and staple removal is generally painless or only mildly uncomfortable. No anaesthetic is needed. If healing is insufficient, I will postpone the removal and inform your doctor.
Is it covered by French Social Security?
Yes, the procedure is reimbursed on prescription. I use the tiers payant system, meaning you do not pay the Social Security portion upfront. The complementary portion depends on your top-up insurance (mutuelle).
