How it works

How does home personal care work?

  1. Prescription and scheduling

Personal care is prescribed by your doctor. Once I receive the prescription, I organise visits at regular times adapted to your daily routine.

  2. Initial assessment of mobility and needs

On the first visit, I assess your level of independence, preferences and any restrictions related to your condition, so care can be fully adapted to your situation.

  3. Wash and associated care

Bed bath, sink wash or shower depending on your abilities. I take care of changing, oral hygiene, shaving and comfortable positioning.

  4. Skin monitoring and prevention

At each visit, I inspect skin condition (pressure sore risk, wounds, redness) and carry out any necessary preventive care. Any anomaly is reported to your doctor.

Indications

Who is it for?

Home personal care is for patients who cannot manage their own hygiene due to reduced mobility, post-operative convalescence or a dependent condition linked to age or chronic illness.

It is particularly indicated after hospitalisation or surgery (hip or knee replacement, fracture, abdominal surgery), for patients with neurodegenerative conditions (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke), or in situations of significant frailty at home.

Beyond hygiene, personal care is a moment of clinical monitoring and therapeutic relationship. I assess the patient's general condition at each visit, monitor pressure points (pressure sore prevention) and maintain communication with other healthcare professionals involved in their care.

FAQ

Questions about home personal care

Is a prescription needed?
Yes, nursing personal care requires a medical prescription to be covered by French Social Security. Your GP can prescribe it during a consultation or upon discharge from hospital.
Can you visit early in the morning?
Yes, I visit from 6:45 am for morning care. Visit times are organised with you to fit your habits and daily routine. Visits are regular and predictable for your comfort.
Do you visit on weekends?
Yes, I provide care 7 days a week, including Sundays and public holidays. Daily hygiene cannot be interrupted at weekends, and I organise my schedule to ensure uninterrupted continuity of care throughout the week.
What is the difference between nurse-provided and carer-provided personal care?
Personal care carried out by a nurse is a full nursing act covered by French Social Security on medical prescription. It includes clinical monitoring (skin condition, warning signs, general state) that a care assistant is not authorised to carry out alone. It is recommended when the patient has wounds, a high risk of pressure sores or requires close medical supervision.
