🕊️ Palliative Care at Home in Pertuis

Nursing support for patients at end of life at home: pain management, comfort care, family support and coordination with the care team. So that home remains a dignified place to live until the very end. English spoken.

Care approach

My role in palliative care

  1. Pain assessment and management

I regularly assess pain using appropriate scales and administer prescribed analgesic treatments. I report observations to your doctor so the protocol can be adjusted if needed.

  2. Comfort and hygiene care

Bathing, mouth care, pressure sore prevention and treatment, overall nursing care — every gesture is carried out gently and with full respect for the patient's dignity.

  3. Support for family and loved ones

I support family members in care tasks they can carry out, answer their questions and direct them towards available support resources (social worker, palliative care mobile team).

  4. Multidisciplinary coordination

I work closely with the GP, mobile palliative care teams (EMSP) and, if necessary, home hospitalisation teams (HAD) to ensure coherent, comprehensive care.

Philosophy of care

A person-centred approach

Palliative care does not mean abandoning treatment, but redirecting it towards comfort and quality of life. My goal is to allow patients to spend their final moments with dignity, surrounded by loved ones, in the place they have chosen.

I scrupulously respect the patient's advance directives and expressed wishes regarding their care. Communication with the patient, their family and all healthcare providers is at the heart of my role.

In complex situations, I can call on a mobile palliative care team (EMSP) or facilitate the setting up of home hospitalisation (HAD), which brings additional resources while allowing the patient to remain at home.

FAQ

Questions about palliative care at home

Can my loved one remain at home until the end?
Yes, in the vast majority of cases, end-of-life care at home can be organised. This requires coordinated support between the GP, the community nurse, family carers and, if needed, a home hospitalisation team (HAD). I can help you assess feasibility and put the necessary resources in place.
What is home hospitalisation (HAD)?
HAD (Hospitalisation À Domicile) is a French structure that delivers intensive medical and nursing care at home, normally reserved for hospital settings. It is prescribed by a GP or hospital doctor when the patient's condition requires it. I work in collaboration with HAD teams to ensure continuity of care.
How are crises or emergencies managed at home?
In consultation with the GP, we establish anticipatory care protocols for foreseeable situations (acute pain, breathlessness, anxiety). This allows us to act quickly and effectively without calling emergency services in most cases. I am available to guide you in case of doubt.
Is palliative care covered by French Social Security?
Yes, palliative nursing care is covered at 100% by French Social Security under the long-term illness scheme (ALD). Your doctor establishes the care protocol. There is no patient contribution for covered nursing acts.
